When to Make Reservations

You can easily get it without making any dining reservations in Mykonos but they are recommended for Little Venice and the 180-sunset bar. For Little, Venice grabs a seat in the morning when there was always plenty of space. The websites for most restaurants don’t allow online booking and instead opted for the email approach.

Transport in Mykonos

There are only 30 taxis in the whole of Mykonos, you will certainly not see them driving around looking for customers. This limited supply does make them expensive; expect to pay 25 euros for a fifteen-minute taxi ride, so keep that in mind when budgeting but also when selecting the location of your hotel. You may pre-book the taxi in advance due to the shortage of cars.

Where to Stay in Mykonos?

Almost everything is here apart from the beaches and as mentioned all buses will start or end at the 2 nearby Terminals. Unless you are there for nightlife the only thing you would want to search for is the noise level of where you are looking, this could be an issue. Most of the popular locations for the best beach hotels are along the south coast, all with direct links to Mykonos Town. There are great hotels spread all over the island so as long as the transport works for you, you can’t go too wrong.

Local Tips

The number one rule is don’t flush toilet paper down any one of the toilets. 10-3k people live in Mykonos year-round, so the drains were not built to cope with the mass influx of tourists so they will get blocked if misused. So, make sure to use all the bins next to the toilet to dispose of all of the used paper.

Almost everywhere credit cards are accepted including restaurants. But it is worth carrying a bit of cash as few places didn’t accept cards.

Mykonos Beach Guide
